PostHeaderIcon Tips for the perfect vacation in a conversion van

Conversion vans are perfect if you’re planning on your next unforgettable vacation with your family or friends. A van transformed into something a little bit just like home is great to make those long trips comfortable, convenient and relaxing. You may be away from home but you still have a bed, a cooking area, a sink, toilet and bath, plus sofa and TV. On the other hand, you might need just some of those as you will be out most of the time if plan on going to the one of the best national parks in the country.

If you still haven’t decided where exactly you will go, there are plenty of sources that can provide you with the most important information on which national parks are mostly visited throughout the year. Making inquiries is best involved with planning.

National Park Service campgrounds are usually at the most scenic attractive and historic scenes in the USA. The United States Forest Service can assist you in locating the greatest camping grounds of the USA with a total of 4,300 campgrounds. The United States Army Corps of Engineers oversees as much as 450 lakes all over USA. The Bureau of Land Management has a list of fully developed camping locations in the mountains and deserts.

Plenty of websites over the Internet will give you access to state parks in the country. You may also search online for places to go to for free recreational vehicle camping, state by state camping locations, and private RV parks and sites. You will also become more knowledgeable about recreational vehicle clubs that give you discounts and bargain prices to camping and camping gadgets or supplies by becoming a member. Some of these clubs may be categorized into the type or van that they use, family groups, lifestyle or location.

For the frequent off road adventure seeker, there are always improvements, enhancements, additions and tweaks that can be made to make trips more enjoyable.  One piece of kit that is a perennial favorite of the off-road set is the high quality 12v car fridge.  A well-equipped off road vehicles is the perfect platform for installation of car fridges.  Why is this so?

Many 4x4s and trucks that frequently go off road are equipped with equipment such as recovery winches, 12v air compressors and high powered spotlights.  In order to run all of this electrical equipment these trucks are often modified by their owners to include beefy batteries – or sometimes even dual batteries – and frequently will have upgraded electrical systems.

These electrical modifications happen to create the ideal environment for operating a premium car fridge.  Take for example a 12v Engel fridge freezer.  Some of the quality compressor technology models they produce can run on as little as 1 or 2 amps, which is a very small current drawer.

The large capacity battery systems described earlier can potentially power one of these car refrigerators for days!  Even better, most quality vehicular dual battery systems are setup with battery isolators.  With a setup like this Engel fridges can be allowed to run down the secondary batter completely without impacting your ability to start the vehicle – and once the car is started, the depleted second battery will quickly be recharged by the alternator.

Another reason to consider an Engel car fridge is their design philosophy.  These refrigerators are intended for use in vehicles – such as Toyota Landcruisers – that regularly see the world’s roughest terrain.  If you want to take your truck through river crossings, down muddy ‘roads’ or bouncing your way over large boulders; then you need a fridge that is up to the job.  With an Engel fridge you can be assured they are built to take whatever you can throw at it.

If you are a serious off-roader carefully consider purchasing a quality car fridge for your vehicle.  Sipping cold beers at the end of a fun days driving is a great way to prepare for bed!
